The Department of Corrections confirms two corrections officers were injured as the result of an assault Sunday night at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Faribault.
DOC spokesperson Sarah Fitzgerald said the two injured officers were taken to the hospital but have since been released. The inmate was immediately put in restrictive housing, and the facility is currently in lockdown.
The matter is under investigation.

The latest attack follows the deaths of two Minnesota corrections officers on duty in recent months.
Joseph Gomm was killed while on duty at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater in July. Joseph Parise died after suffering a medical emergency following an incident in which he had rushed to help a fellow guard under attack at Oak Park Heights on Sept. 24.
