On Tuesday, Walter Mondale was honored by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
The former vice president and U.S. senator had part of William O'Brien State Park named after him. In total, five re-dedicated facilities will now bear his name:
As a senator, Mondale worked to preserve places like William O'Brien State Park by sponsoring the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act in 1968.
