Hennepin County officials say a cyberattack on employees may have compromised citizens' private data.
According to the county, the alleged attackers gained access to about 20 employees' email accounts by obtaining credentials through phishing emails.
Those attackers then sent malicious emails from Hennepin County accounts, according to a release.
The county is still trying to determine the content of the hacked email accounts, and what private data may have been accessed.
In addition to the county's investigation, the FBI has also been notified.
