Stinson Boulevard Closed for Water Main Repairs

One block of Stinson Boulevard will be closed for about a week so crews can repair a ruptured water main, according to a Minneapolis spokesman. 

The road is tentatively scheduled to be closed until Nov. 24 from Broadway Street Northeast to Summer Street Northeast, said media relations coordinator Casper Hill. 


A break in the 48-inch water main happened before dawn Friday. Hill said crews contained the situation and were marking utilities to begin excavation and repair work. Service to customers was not affected. 

The break caused water to spray high into the air.

"It's in an area where there's not a lot of danger of flooding," Hill said. "There are plenty of storm sewers there."

Drivers will have to follow detours in the area, but access for residents and businesses will remain.
