Firefighters responded to a structure fire on the east side of Blaine Friday night and were still battling it Saturday morning.

The fire occurred around 6 p.m., according to fire officials. The city of Blaine has confirmed the fire started at a garbage collection business called Dem-Con.

Just before 10 p.m., crews from surrounding cities began leaving the scene, but firefighters from Blaine were still on scene as of 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

With Friday's extreme heat, firefighters on scene told KSTP they were rotating crews and making sure everyone had food and water.

The scene of the fire was officially cleared at 4:05 p.m. Saturday, according to dispatch.
