Crews worked to extinguish a four-alarm fire Sunday evening in Northeast Minneapolis.

At about 5 p.m. firefighters responded to a structure fire that originated in an apartment above El Taco Riendo at 2412 Central Ave. N.E., according to the Minneapolis Fire Department.

When crews arrived, they saw flames coming from the second floor of the building and upgraded the fire.

The fire department said the fire spread to one building north and two buildings south of the building where the fire originated.

Kat Chelstrom told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the fire was overwhelming to watch and it was "extra overwhelming" for her, because her father, Minneapolis Fire Captain Jon Chelstrom, was on Ladder Four working the fire.

"It is definitely overwhelming to be here and watch him, but he's been doing it for nearly 30 years," said Chelstrom. "I like to pretend he knows what he is doing and it is good to know everyone is out of the building and safe."

Multiple fire engines and ladders fought the fire for over four hours.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
