Three people are injured, one critically, after a vehicle drove through a bus stop in Minneapolis Sunday night, Metro Transit Police confirmed.
The driver was taken into custody, MTP stated.
Authorities are investigating the crash, which occurred in south Minneapolis, at East Lake Street, just west of Hiawatha Avenue at around 8:30 p.m., Sunday.
According to MTP, two people were waiting at the bus stop when the vehicle traveling westbound on Lake Street crashed into it, injuring both of the pedestrians, as well as the vehicle's passenger. One of the pedestrians was critically hurt. The other pedestrian's injuries were not life-threatening. The extent of the passenger's injuries were not available as of Sunday night. All injured parties were taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center.
A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS crew on scene observed major damage to the bus stop and a damaged vehicle nearby.
