Construction worker killed in St. Paul accident

A Twin Cities construction company is mourning the loss of an employee.

The company - Acoustics Associates Inc. - identified the worker killed in an accident Tuesday afternoon in St. Paul as Corey Buerke.


The St. Paul Fire Department said department paramedics responded to the scene of a traumatic injury near Phalen Boulevard and Maryland Avenue East on the city's east side around 3 p.m.

A spokesperson said the patient was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry confirms OSHA is looking into the incident.

The St. Paul Parks and Recreation Board issued the following statement on the incident:

"Yesterday evening, we were informed by one of our contractors of a fatal workplace related incident within their worksite at Phalen Regional Park. We understand that the appropriate authorities have been contacted, and anticipate that a thorough investigation will be conducted. Our thoughts are with the family, colleagues and friends of this worker."
