A Colorado man was arrested after a pursuit in Minneapolis Sunday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol said a trooper was driving west on Interstate 94 at 25th Avenue when suddenly noticing a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

The trooper activated the squad's emergency lights and sirens, but the driver of the vehicle failed to stop for the trooper and further accelerated, the State Patrol said. It fled onto Cedar Avenue and Washington Avenue before getting on Interstate 35W northbound from Washington Avenue.

According to the State Patrol, troopers were slowing to terminate the pursuit as it exited to University Avenue from I-35W, but it then entered the intersection and crashed into a Hyundai Elantra. The driver, identified as Aaron Henderson, 27, of Aurora, Colorado, fled on foot before being taken into custody.

An application for a search warrant states that the driver of the Hyundai Henderson "t-boned" was knocked unconscious after the impact and was taken to a hospital, and the passenger was also transported to a hospital after complaining of a back injury. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The search warrant application also states that officers believed Henderson was traveling well over 100 mph as he entered Minneapolis.

The State Patrol said Henderson showed signs of impairment as troopers took him into custody, and the search warrant application states troopers smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. An open bottle of alcohol was then found in his vehicle.

He was booked at Hennepin County Jail for suspicion of fleeing police in a motor vehicle, driving while impaired and criminal vehicular operation.

The State Patrol said the investigation remains active.
