Several University of St. Thomas students told St. Paul Police and 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they had to "fight off" a burglar who stabbed one of the students before running away on Lincoln Avenue just a block from the UST campus last Tuesday.

Noah Stowell told KSTP he heard what he thought was someone rummaging through the basement around midnight, he then met the would-be burglar at the top of the basement steps.

"And, that is when we engaged and I pinned him against the wall and then he flipped it and pinned me against the wall," said Stowell.

"Then, he threw a coffee mug at me and, at some point, stabbed me with a kitchen knife, in my arm."

Stowell said the burglar took off running out the back door and headed toward the front of the house to try and get away before anyone in the home had time to dial 9-1-1.

"My arm was bleeding bad, but it is okay now and my roommate tried to run the guy down," said Stowell.

Robbie Jandik said his instincts told him to rush to help Stowell, he did not even take any time to grab any cold-weather clothes as he took off after the thief.

"I grabbed a knife of my own, and, in my boxers, I chased him around the back of the house toward the front of the house and then I lost him in the darkness," said Jandik.

St. Paul Police have not made an arrest yet.
