Cold weather expected over the weekend

Minnesotans will want to bundle up over the weekend as chilly weather is expected, according to KSTP Chief Meteorologist Dave Dahl.

The cold comes a day after snow accumulated across the southern portion of the state.

Early Friday evening, the National Weather Service reported there were 11 inches of snow in Clarks Grove, 10 inches in Sherburn, 8.5 in Albert Lea, 8 inches in Amboy, 8 inches in Glenville, 6 inches in St. James, 4 inches in Mankato, 4 inches in Waseca and 1.5 inches in Prior Lake.

Temperatures on Saturday are expected to reach a high of 10 degrees during the day. Wind chills will likely be between zero to -5 degrees, according to Dahl. 

Temperatures are likely to only reach 10 degrees again Sunday. There is also a chance for flurries. 

Dahl said more snow is likely Monday and Tuesday.
