Police have identified the victim in Saturday night's shooting as Enzo Santiago Herrera Garcia.

Authorities said there was some sort of fight between Allen and Garcia in the area of Eighth Street South and Hennepin Avenue South.

That's when police say Allen shot Garcia in the chest, killing him. Allen left the scene in a vehicle and was later arrested Sunday morning.

The recent homicide downtown adds to the increasing number of violent crimes in Minneapolis this year. There have been at least 30 homicides in 2019, compared to the 33 total in 2018.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS spoke with a pastor at a church near the latest shooting who said these violent crimes are becoming too common.

"I think there's still fear, because we read about it, we see it, we hear about it," Pastor Jeremy Adelman said. "We have greater access to information, and so people are afraid."
