Meeker County authorities now know the cause of a Waverly man's death, but say questions about when and where he died remain.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office said an autopsy report for 40-year-old Shawn Medley shows he died of a methamphetamine and mitragynine overdose.

But the sheriff's office says the circumstances surrounding his death, including when and where he died, remain unknown.

Medley was reported missing on Feb. 7 and found unresponsive in rural Ellsworth Township on the afternoon of Feb. 11. A release at the time said the initial investigation indicated he had been dead for quite some time, and that investigators believed Medley died somewhere other than where his body was discovered.

His 2010 silver Hyundai was located abandoned in Litchfield early on Feb. 10, authorities said at the time.

The sheriff's office says it's looking to identify anyone who was with Medley and their location from the early morning hours of Feb. 8 to Feb. 11. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 320-693-5400, or leave a confidential tip at 320-693-5411.
