California man arrested, nearly 100 pounds of marijuana seized after Stearns County traffic stop

A California man was arrested after law enforcement in Stearns County found nearly 100 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop last week.

A criminal complaint states law enforcement pulled over a vehicle for failing to stop completely at a stop sign on Second Street in Waite Park on Nov. 29.

The officer immediately smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, the complaint states, and the driver, identified as 56-year-old Guy Raymond Gibeau, of Phelan, California, was arrested on an active felony warrant.

During a search of Gibeau's vehicle, officers found 90 one-pound bags of marijuana, the complaint states.

Gibeau was taken to Stearns County Jail.

According to the Richfield Police Department, RPD helped gather the information and coordinated the interception and arrest of the suspect.
