More than $100,000 will go to help find a cure for brain cancer thanks to a 5K in the Twin Cities Sunday.
The Minnesota Brain Tumor 5K at Lake Phalen in St. Paul is unique in the fact that it is put on entirely by volunteers. That means 100% of the money raised goes directly to brain tumor research.
About 1500 people signed up for Sunday morning's run/walk. Some ran in honor of a loved one lost to brain cancer and launched balloons in their memory. Others took steps in support of friends or family currently fighting the disease.
More than 60 survivors also took part, including Sue Casanova, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011."It makes such a difference and to have everybody together is so wonderful," Casanova said. "It just brings tears to my eyes."
Proceeds from the event go to the Musella Foundation for Brain Tumor Research and Information. You can donate to the cause by clicking HERE.
