Authorities believe a body found in a drainage ditch in Renville County is that of a missing Buffalo Lake man.

Adam Michael Rein, 24, was reported missing Thursday and last seen Tuesday morning leaving an establishment in Hector.

On Thursday, just before 7:30 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle submerged in a drainage ditch off of 800th Avenue near Renville County Road 22.

Authorities recovered the vehicle and determined it belonged to Rein, but it was unoccupied.

Around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, a body believed to be Rein was found in the ditch about a mile downstream from where the vehicle was found, according to the sheriff's office.

The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy and confirm the identity.
