The Morrison County Sheriff's Department reports the bodies of two fishermen who died after their side-by-side ATV apparently went through the ice on Fish Trap Lake Sunday have now both been recovered.

A release said the body of 71-year-old Leonard Sanoski of Cushing was located inside the enclosed cab of the Polaris side-by-side ATV Monday morning. The ATV was in approximately 40 feet of water.

The body of 68-year-old Wayne Vaverek of Cushing was found on the surface near the edge of the water Sunday night. Lifesaving efforts were attempted, but Vaverek was pronounced dead at the scene.

The release said the two neighbors, who lived on the lake, had been fishing Sunday night. Family members notified the sheriff's department when they were late returning home and they were unable to contact them.

First responders located open water west of Big Island, near the middle of the lake. That is where the body of Vaverek was discovered.

According to the release, the incident took place on a pressure ridge approximately 200 yards long running north to south, and around 75 yards wide running east to west. The ridge is marked with cones and the department said it is reminding residents to stay away from the area.
