Authorities in Stearns County said a lawn mower used earlier in the day is believed to be responsible for a shed fire that caused an estimated $40,000 worth of damage Sunday afternoon in Paynesville Township.

A release said a deputy was dispatched to a report of a shed fire around 3:40 p.m. Sunday on Highway 23. The deputy could already see a large amount of smoke as he left Paynesville, and when he arrived on scene, the shed was fully engulfed.
