Bloomington Police Investigate Apparent Stabbing Death Near Hotel

Bloomington police are investigating the death of a man after an apparent stabbing near the Crowne Plaza Hotel Monday.

Bloomington police were called to the area of the Crown Plaza Hotel on Apple Tree Square at noon Monday. There, they found a 38-year-old man suffering from apparent stab wounds to his upper torso, the department said.

The man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and was pronounced dead on arrival, police confirmed.

"I heard someone got stabbed," said Matt Millett, who works nearby. "Which is crazy during the middle of the day like this. You think that there's some level of safety going on around here, but right in the middle of the day, that was pretty surprising."

Bloomington Police Deputy Chief Mike Hartley said they are not searching for a suspect, and they do not believe the public is at risk.
