Burnsville man arrested in fatal Bloomington pedestrian crash

Bloomington police have arrested a man in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian Tuesday night.

According to a news release, the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. when Donald Eugene Johnson, 66, of Bloomington, was crossing 98th Street near Newton Avenue. A vehicle traveling eastbound on 98th Street hit Johnson, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Matthew Powell Knutson, 26, of Burnsville, was arrested on probable cause of DUI criminal vehicular homicide. He is in Bloomington Jail awaiting formal charges.

The crash remains under investigation.
