The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has identified the three law enforcement officers involved in an exchange of gunfire that killed one person in Coon Rapids early Thursday morning. 

According to the Department of Public Safety, the three law enforcement officers are identified as Alex Hattsrom, Geoff Neumann and Deputy Christopher Vitek, Jr.


Both Hattstrom and Vitek discharged their firearms during the incident, according to the BCA. Neumann discharged his Taser.

All officers are on standard administrative leave, according to the Department of Public Safety. None of them were injured in the shooting.

In addition, the Midwest Examiner's Office has identified the man who died during the incident as John Duane Fairbanks, 40, from Cass Lake. Fairbanks died of multiple gunshot wounds.

During the incident last Thursday, dash cameras, body cameras and a law enforcement drone were used. Investigators will determine whether and how much of the incident was captured. BCA crime scene personnel recovered a handgun from next to Fairbank's body.

The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
