Authorities in St. Paul are searching for two suspects involved in attacking a woman near Como Lake.

According to police, a woman was out jogging early Tuesday morning when a man emerged from nearby bushes.

"A male suspect jumped out in front of here and startled her," said Steve Linders, a spokesman with the St. Paul Police Department. "That's when another male suspect jumped out from behind."

The woman told police she was surrounded on the trail. The two suspects made demands and one of them was armed with a pistol, according to police.

"She wasn't having any of it," Linders said. "She started screaming and fighting and, at one point, actually bit the suspect."

People who lived nearby heard the commotion and called 911.

Police said the woman described the suspects and two men who were wearing black hooded sweatshirts.

Police said K-9s were unable to locate the two suspects.

Residents in the neighborhood have been notified about the incident.
