The State Patrol said a Chevy Aveo, driven by 29-year-old Jennifer Lynn Lovering, was traveling west on Highway 5. Lovering spun out and she entered the median. While Lovering was attempting to dig her vehicle out, an Acura RDX lost traction, collided with the passenger side of Lovering's vehicle and pinned Lovering between the two vehicles, according to the report.

Lovering suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The two occupants of the Acura were not injured.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Eden Prairie Police Department and Eden Prairie Fire Department all responded.

While on scene, an Eden Prairie fire truck was struck by another vehicle. No one  was injured in that collision.
