Authorities are investigating a report of chains wrapped around cornstalks in a Meeker County field.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office received a report on Nov. 18 of three chains being picked up and snagged in a combine while harvesting in a field.

Mindy Johnson posted photo's on social media after her family run farm field was targeted.  She was helping out with harvest at 130th Street and 610th Avenue in Cedar Mills Township on Monday when the incident occurred.

When the Johnson's inspected the machinery, they noticed some minor damage had been done, "it's scary, somebody took the time out of their night to go into the field and put 3 objects out there," replied Johnson.

Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze said this is under investigation as criminal damage to property, "this was an intentional act, the question is who did it or why, we need answers and that's what we are looking into at this point."

No other incidents like this have been reported in the area.

Anyone aware of similar incidents or anyone with information about this incident should contact the Meeker County Sheriff's Office at 320-693-5400.  Anonymous tips may be left on their confidential tip line, 320-693-5411.
