A man was killed in a crash involving a car and dump truck in Barron County early Thursday morning and a woman was later found dead from a stab wound at the crash victim's residence.

According to a press release from the Barron County Sheriff's Department, a call was received regarding a car versus dump truck crash on Highway 8 at 5:47 a.m. Thursday.

An initial investigation of the crash shows that a car driven by Eldon Jackson, 21, of Cameron crossed the center line and hit a dump truck driven by Robert Tourville, 52, of Prairie Farm.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene and Tourville was transported to Mayo Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Shortly after the crash, at 10:51 a.m Thursday the department received a 911 call regarding a woman deceased from a stab wound in Cameron.

An investigation showed that Audra Poppe, 22, of Rice Lake was found dead in a trailer.

The trailer was the residence of the crash victim, Eldon Jackson. Jackson was operating Poppe's vehicle at the time of the crash.

These two incidents appear to be related and more information will be released after evidence is investigated, according to the sheriff's department.

There is no danger to the public.
