Attempted abduction reported in Marcy-Holmes neighborhood

An attempted abduction occurred Thursday morning in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood, according to a University of Minnesota safety notification.

The notification said the incident occurred at 7:16 a.m. near Fourth Avenue Southeast and Sixth Street Southeast. 


According to the Minneapolis Police Department, the woman was grabbed by a man wearing a blue hoodie and blue sweatpants. She fought against the suspect causing him to flee on foot.

Officers searched the area for the suspect with negative results. 

The Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood Association has called a crime and safety meeting to duscuss the event. Representatives from the Minneapolis Police Department's 2nd Precinct and other city officials will be on hand to answer questions. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 16.
