The father of the child Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind was carrying said being able to see the child has helped ease the pain of the 22-year-old Fargo woman's disappearance and death.
ABC Fargo affiliate WDAY reports Ashton Matheny was able to visit newborn infant Haisley Jo for the first time Tuesday, and again in the hospital Wednesday.
The 8-month pregnant Greywind went missing Aug. 19 after her family said she agreed to help a fellow apartment tenant fit a dress.
Brooke Lynn Crews, 38, and William Henry Hoehn, 32, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping and providing false information to authorities. Police arrested Crews and Hoehn last Thursday after discovering what they believed to be Greywind's 2-day-old baby.
Greywind's body was discovered in the Red River Sunday evening, wrapped in plastic and duct tape.
But Matheny said finally being able to see his daughter has been a ray of light.
"Seeing her was overwhelming," he told WDAY. "Not bad overwhemling. It was, how do I say it, overwhelmed with happiness," he said. "Dark times, but she lit my world right up."
WDAY reported all photos of Haisley Jo are being kept private until she is able to be with her family.
