Ekkers confirmed the male suspect was found at a train station nearby shortly after the incident and was arrested. He is set to be arraigned Friday.

Papenheim was studying psychology with a focus on suicide at Erasmus University. Her brother killed himself three years ago.

"She was going to have the chance to go somewhere," Donee Odegard, Papenheim's mother, said. "My life has been ripped," she added.

Papenheim was also a musician who played in the Twin Cities. Her fellow musicians are now trying to help her family pay for the cost to get her home.
