Enjoy Winter Recreation
Get out and enjoy recreational winter sports around the metro. Looking to speed downhill on skis or a snowboard? Hyland Hills, Afton Alps and Buck Hill may just be the place to go. Speeding downhill not your thing? Try out cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Minnesotans can rent equipment for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing through Three Rivers Park District, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and St. Paul parks and recreation.
Celebrate the holiday season with Minneapolis' Holidazzle. Holidazzle is downtown Minneapolis' premiere holiday celebration. The celebration includes food, shopping, a kid zone, movies, fireworks and more.

Mall of America Skate the Star
Looking to lace up your ice skates over the weekend? Head over to the Mall of America for the opening weekend of the Skate the Star ice rink. The 12,000-square-foot ice rink is a new attraction to the Mall of America. All proceeds from the rink will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Twin Cities.
Date: Open daily through Jan. 27

Making Spirits Bright at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
Find inspiration for your holiday light display during Making Spirits Bright at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. During the event, participants can hike through the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and enjoy 16 different lighting displays.

Mill City Indoor Winter Market
Find locally grown produce, as well as other food items during the Mill City Farmers Market indoor winter market. The market hosts more than 40 local farmers, food makers and artists.

50th & France Winter Market
Minnesotans have yet another chance to find holiday goods over the weekend during the 50th & France Winter Market. The first market kicks off Saturday and will be held weekly through Dec. 15.
Time: 1 to 5 p.m.

Christmas in Excelsior
Continue with the holiday cheer over the weekend by visiting Excelsior. On Saturday, there are multiple Christmas-related events for families. Families can enjoy free horse drawn wagon rides throughout the city as a part of the holiday festivities. They can also visit Santa and enjoy a hot cocoa bar.
Time: Wagon rides: Noon - 4 p.m. Santa Claus and hot cocoa bar: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Outdoor screening of 'A Christmas Story'
Enjoy a Christmas classic in chilly conditions during a screening of "A Christmas Story" at the Target Field Station Amphitheater. The North Loop Neighborhood Association invites attendees to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the saga of a young man hoping for a Red Rider BB gun underneath the Christmas tree. Free hot chocolate and popcorn will also be offered.

Linden Hills Holiday Market
See what more than 60 local craftspeople and food producers are up to during the Linden Hills Holiday Market. The weekly market offers an opportunity to pick up that perfect holiday gift and food.

Northeast Winter Market
Summer may be long gone, but you can still enjoy the atmosphere of a farmer's market. Pick up fresh produce and other foods during the Northeast Winter Market. The market also includes music on vinyl spun by local DJs, kids' activities and a bar.

A Very Vintage Holiday Market
Looking for that vintage jean jacket or band t-shirt? Find that one-of-a-kind item during the Minneapolis Vintage Market at Lakes and Legends Brewing Company. The market includes 19 different vendors from around the Twin Cities.
