No plans this weekend? Need to get out of the house? Here is a look at what is going on in the Twin Cities this weekend.


Sever's Fall Festival

Summer may be coming to a close, but Minnesotans can celebrate the coming of fall with Sever's Fall Festival. Opening Friday, the festival offers a pumpkin patch, corn maze and live performances. According to the event's website, the event is the Midwest's original fall festival. The festival is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 28.

Date: Friday - Sunday through Oct. 28

Minnesota Renaissance Festival 

Step into medieval times by visiting the nation's largest Renaissance festival. The Minnesota Renaissance Festival is celebrating its 48th year of existence. Over 300,000 people visit the festival to experience the works of artisans, food and drink and, of course, medieval entertainment.  

Date: Saturday and Sunday, weekends through Sept. 28

Place: Minnesota Renaissance Festival Site, Shakopee


Junk Bonanza at Canterbury Park

Find yourself that one-of-a-kind item that reminds you of grandma's house at the Junk Bonanza at Canterbury Park. The event hosts vendors selling furniture, vintage home and garden decor, apparel and jewelry. 

Date: Friday - Saturday

Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Place: Canterbury Park, Shakopee


Gasthof's Oktoberfest Festival 

It's that time of year, let the Oktoberfest celebrations begin! Minnesotans can swing by Gasthof's over the weekend to enjoy German food, polka music and beer during the restaurant's annual Oktoberfest celebration.

Date: Every Friday and Saturday through Oct. 13

Time: 5 to 11 p.m.

Place: Gasthof zur Gemutlichkeit, Minneapolis 


Electric Fetus Garage Sale and Fall Festival

Looking for some inexpensive new tunes? Head over to the Electric Fetus for the store's Garage Sale and Fall Festival. At the garage sale, CDs and LPs are marked down, as well as gift department items. There will also be live music from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. 

Date: Saturday and Sunday

Time: Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Place: Electric Fetus, Minneapolis


Spirit of the St. Croix Art Festival

More than 90 juried artists will display their work over the weekend at the Spirit of the St. Croix Art Festival. Along with visual art, the festival will include live music. Tastings from Hop & Barrel Brewing Company and Belle Vinez Vineyard and Winery will also be available. 

Date: Saturday and Sunday

Place: Hudson, Wisconsin 


Prevention Through Cultural Awareness Program's Mini Pow-Wow

Immerse yourself in Native American culture Friday evening by attending the Prevention Through Cultural Awareness Program's Mini Pow-Wow. A dinner begins at 5 p.m., and the pow-wow's grand entry is at 6 p.m.

Time: 5 to 9 p.m.

Place: Minneapolis American Indian Center, Minneapolis


Steve Miller Band at The Armory 

Go on take your money and run to buy tickets to see the Steve Miller Band at The Armory in downtown Minneapolis. Miller is known for such hit songs as "The Joker," "Fly Like an Eagle" and "Jet Airliner."

Time: 5:30 to 11 p.m.

Place: The Armory, Minneapolis


St. Louis Park Art Fair 

See what local artists are up to during the St. Louis Park Art Fair Saturday. The event will host more than 60 Minnesota artists who will be selling jewelry, ceramics, photography and paintings. 

Date: Saturday

Time: 11 a.m. 6 p.m.

Place: Recreation Outdoor Center, St. Louis Park


Frebella Fest

Formed as a music festival where everyone belongs, Frebella Festival will host a number local Twin Cities' musicians and bands Saturday. The lineup includes Haley, The Cactus Blossoms, White Iron Band, We Are the Willows and Little Fevers. All proceeds go to benefit The Emily Program Foundation, a nonprofit working to eliminate eating disorders.

2018 Powderhorn Porchfest 

Explore one of south Minneapolis' neighborhood while enjoying music and food during Powderhorn Porchfest. The festival highlighting local music and food will host 16 bands and a number of food trucks. All musical performances will be done on four porches spread out through the Powderhorn neighborhood.

Time: 4 to 10 p.m.

Place: 17th Avenue South between 32nd and 34th streets, Minneapolis 


Built to Last Music Festival

Minnesota Dead Heads unite! The music of the Grateful Dead will be brought to life Saturday at the Built to Last Music Festival at Moon Palace Books and the Hook & Ladder Theater. The festival will include performances from Midwest Grateful Dead cover bands, as well as local jamgrass band Kind Country. Peter Rowan, who was in the bluegrass band Old & in the Way with Grateful Dead founder Jerry Garcia, will also be performing at the festival.

Time: 5 p.m. to midnight 

Place: Moon Palace Books and the Hook & Ladder Theater, Minneapolis


Open Streets - Nicollet

On Sunday, Nicollet Avenue will be closed to traffic and opened up to pedestrians, cyclists and skaters as a part of Open Streets. The rotating event closes major roadways in the city, allowing people to be exposed to local businesses and neighborhoods. Nicollet Avenue will be closed from West Lake Street to 46th Street West.

Time: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis 


Open Streets on 50th

Separate from Open Streets Minneapolis, a portion of 50th Street in Edina will be closed off for pedestrian use for Open Streets on 50th. The event will include music, games, art, yoga and other activities. The street will be closed between Wooddale and Chowen avenues.

Time: 1 to 5 p.m.

Location: 50th Street, Edina


Best of the Wurst

Don't miss out on the wurst event of the year. On Sunday, Sociable Cider Werks will be hosting the Best of the Wurst event, where attendees can enjoy unique sausage sampling along with Sociable Cider Werks cider and August Schell Brewing Company beer.
