Previous Experience
Andrea Lyon joined 5 Eyewitness News in October of 2021. Before returning to Minnesota, she spent seven years working in Florida. Andrea spent three years with NBC2 in Fort Myers, an additional three years in Tampa with ABC Action News where she covered multiple hurricanes including the category four storm, Hurricane Irma, which ravage the Southwest and Central parts of Florida. She's also proud of her in-depth coverage at ABC Action News, giving thousands of women a voice who were and still are battling Breast Implant Illness. Andrea wrapped up her time in Florida as a freelance reporter with FOX35 in Orlando.

Before leaving for the sandy beaches, Andrea worked as a reporter for WDAY 6 News in Fargo, North Dakota. She made her national debut on ABC World News in Fargo when temperatures hit a bitter -55 degree wind chill.

Andrea started her on-air journey with Hubbard Broadcasting as a reporter, anchor and producer in Alexandria, Minnesota when KSAX was still on air. 

Awards
Andrea has been touted the 'best multi-media journalist' in Florida three-times by the Associated Press for her videography and journalism work. She also has received recognition from Edward R. Murrow, winning a regional award for team coverage after coverage of an active shooting in Cape Coral, FL. She also earned a regional Edward R. Murrow award for investigative work surrounding social justice issues and homelessness in Florida. Andrea is also an Emmy-nominated journalist for producing and investigative journalism. 

Personal Interests
When Andrea isn't working to tell Midwest stories, she's wrangling her two toddler boys, Aiden and Oliver. Andrea and her husband, Richard, are also working on renovating their 1913 Wisconsin home, you can follow their remodeling journey, here.
