Edina native Anders Lee reacts to re-signing with Islanders

Anders Lee isn't going anywhere.

A year after the New York Islanders lost captain John Tavares to Toronto in free agency, his successor chose to stay.


The Islanders agreed to terms with Lee on a $49 million, seven-year deal earlier this month. Coming off of a 40-goal, 62-point season, Lee followed up his best campaign with a rock-solid 28-goal, 51-point season in 2018-2019. That came in a new system under coach Barry Trotz.

Lee joins fellow forwards Brock Nelson and Jordan Eberle in re-signing with the Islanders this offseason.

Lee turned 29-years-old on July 3.
