Sen. Amy Klobuchar will now be in the national spotlight as she runs for the White House.

How will her presidential campaign impact her duties as a Minnesota senator?

Political analyst Brian McClung says Klobuchar will have to find a balance between spending time fundraising and campaigning, while still being a senator.

"She's going to have to find a way to balance serving in the U.S. Senate and running for president," McClung said. "When there are important votes I think there's no question that Senator Klobuchar or any senator is going to find a way to make it to Washington D.C. and be there and be part of it."

Below are the missed votes by several United States Senators, and Rep. Michele Bachmann, who've run for president in recent elections.

Time periods: Rubio/Cruz/Sanders: Oct. 2015 - June 2016, Bachmann: July 2011 - Dec 2011, Clinton/Obama/McCain: Oct. 2007 - Sept. 2008

During the last presidential election, KSTP found the three most prominent senators who ran missed many votes on the Senate floor while out campaigning, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, who missed 67 percent of all votes over a nine-month period.

Rep. Michele Bachmann missed 74 percent of the votes taken in the U.S. House during her campaign in 2011.

In 2008, then-Sen. Hillary Clinton missed 60 percent of the votes in the Senate, then-Sen. Barack Obama missed 72 percent of the votes during the same timeframe and the late Sen. John McCain missed 81 percent Senate's votes during his failed bid for president.
