Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said he supports a lawsuit against Nobles County and Sheriff Kent Wilkening.
The Minnesota American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is suing over the county's immigration policy.
KSTP previously provided this in-depth report last year. The ACLU's lawsuit accuses the county of unlawfully detaining people suspected of violating immigration law for immigration and customs enforcement.
A judge granted an order to keep the sheriff's office from detaining people for ICE.
Nobles County will appeal the restraining order, according to court documents.
The attorney representing the county says they are still reviewing the attorney general's opinion.
