The Police Department's public information officer Scott Seroka said shots fired complaints and shot spotter was activated at East 21st Street and Bloomington Avenue around 4:15 p.m. Officers from the Third Precinct responded. The scene outside of a busy apartment complex quickly drew a crowd. Officers found a 26-year-old Minneapolis man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers performed CPR, tried to stop the bleeding and comfort the man.

He was alive but died later at HCMC.

According to police, the man was alone in his vehicle at the time of the shooting.

"Investigators believe the suspect walked up to the vehicle and fired shots into the vehicle and ran off, he got into a car and they took off from the scene," said Seroka.

Police are still searching for two suspects: the shooter and the getaway driver. Investigators pulled video from security cameras posted at each end of the apartment complex to review and perhaps get a clear look at the gunman and car he sped off in.

The victim's identity, along with the cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
