55-year-old Larry Gene Haynes was killed in a snowmobile vs. vehicle crash in Le Sueur County Saturday afternoon.

According to a release from the Le Sueur County Sheriff, deputies responded to a crash on Lexington Road near 173rd Avenue in Montgomery township at 4:40 p.m. Saturday.

Initial investigation indicates that Haynes was traveling north on a snowmobile trail at a high rate of speed. He appears to have been unable to stop before crossing Lexington Road where he struck the side of a pickup truck. 

Haynes was ejected from the snowmobile. Lifesaving efforts were taken however Haynes was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
