5 EYEWITNESS NEWS announces new midday anchor team, additional hour of news

KSTP-TV, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is extending the Midday news on KSTP-TV by adding another hour of news on 45TV from noon to 1 p.m. 

Branded "EYEWITNESS NEWS at Noon on 45TV," this additional newscast will now bring viewers two hours of the latest news during the afternoon.

"We're very pleased to bring midday news viewers the latest 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS both at 11 a.m. and now an additional hour at noon on 45TV," said Kirk Varner, news director for 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS and 45TV. "The new anchor team of Leah McLean and Matt Belanger on these two newscasts makes it more convenient than ever to get the latest news and weather updates whenever it's time for lunch."

Anchor Matt Belanger said, "So much is happening during the middle of the day and I'm thrilled we'll be able to bring our viewers this additional hour of live coverage on 45TV. I'm honored to be stepping up to the anchor desk five days a week and joining Leah McLean to bring our viewers two full hours of EYEWITNESS NEWS each weekday." 

Belanger joins anchor Leah McLean to form the new Midday anchor team. 

"I am excited to partner with Matt Belanger to bring the local news and events that matter to our viewers," McLean said. "I have been anchoring the news for the past 14 years and having the opportunity to be a part of this newly-formed Midday news team allows me to continue to do the job I love while allowing me to continue my work in the community."

The extended EYEWITNESS NEWS at Noon on 45TV launched on Monday, Sept. 16.
