A Lowry man died from an apparent drowning Tuesday evening in Douglas County.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call around 5:25 p.m. from a distraught caller at the Lake Burgen public access in Alexandria.

Upon arrival to the scene, authorities were informed that a man was submerged in the water and had not resurfaced. The Douglas County Dive Rescue team was paged out and responded along with North Ambulance and LifeLink III Air Ambulance. 

The man's body was recovered from the water approximately 50 feet from shore in about 10 feet of water, according to the sheriff's office. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. 

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification. The incident remains under investigation.
