4-year-old girl killed by falling tree branch in Mankato identified

Authorities have identified the girl killed by a falling tree branch in Mankato as 4-year-old Nytalia Ashes of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

According to the Mankato Public Safety Department, emergency personnel responded to a report of a tree branch that had fallen on an occupied tent around 2:30 a.m. Friday in Land of Memories Park.

First responders found a young girl with life-threatening injuries and attempted to save her. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

No one else in the tent was harmed.
