UPDATE: Dead driver, injured passenger identified in fatal I-35W crash in Bloomington

The Minnesota State Patrol has released the names of a driver who died and a passenger who is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash Saturday in Bloomington.


Clovin McVay Jr., 52, of Burnsville was driving a Mercury sedan southbound on Interstate 35W near 94th Street W. Saturday afternoon when the car drifted  from the center right lane into the right ditch, striking a tree and coming to rest, according to the State Patrol's crash report.

McVay died in the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Passenger Allen Suggs Jr., 48, of Minneapolis is being treated for life-threatening injuries at Hennepin County Medical Center.
