Three separate incidents involving vehicles falling through the ice happened on Madison Lake on Saturday.

According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office, the specific location of these incidents is southwest of the Point Pleasant Resort and Campground. The sheriff's office notes the location was open water within the past week.

The first incident was reported at 11:51 a.m. A Ford Escape broke through the ice and was fully submerged, however, all three occupants were able to escape with no apparent injuries.

The second vehicle falling through the ice involved a Dodge Dakota and four occupants. This incident was reported at 9:17 p.m. There were no injuries but the vehicle was fully submerged.

The third incident was reported at 10:13 p.m. but originally occurred at 8:45 p.m. A Chevrolet pickup broke through the ice with three occupants in the vehicle. All three were able to escape without injury.

The sheriff's office says they have been in contact with local businesses to help spread the word and additional signage has been placed at the landings to further warn those attempting to access the lake. The sheriff's office also reminds the public that ice should never be considered completely safe as conditions continuously change. Being familiar with the lake is important and local baits shops and businesses are often able to provide the most up-to-date information on current ice conditions and areas of danger.
