3 Boats Burn at Lake Minnetonka's Lafayette Bay

September 16, 2018 06:30 PM

Authorities responded to Lake Minnetonka Sunday after multiple boats caught fire.

A firefighter at the scene told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that three boats burned, but there were no injuries.

According to Hennepin County Water Patrol spokesperson Jon Collins, a recreational boat on the lake caught fire just before 4 p.m. Someone was on the boat, but they made it off safely.

The boat then drifted into a dock where two other boats were stationed. Those two boats caught fire, as did the dock.

It is still not known what caused the original fire.

Highway 15 was shut down as authorities investigated.
