21-year-old victim identified in West River Parkway homicide

A 21-year-old man has been identified as the victim in a homicide that happened on West River Parkway late Monday night. 

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identifies the man as Burka Osman Mohammed from Minneapolis. Mohammed died of multiple sharp force injuries.


According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to the 200 block of West River Parkway at about 11:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a man who "had suffered trauma" on the bike path. Officers said the man, later identified as Mohammed, was not breathing and didn't have a heartbeat.

The Minneapolis Fire Department and paramedics were called to the scene. After unsuccessful life-saving efforts, Mohammed was pronounced dead at the scene.
