2 women injured in overnight shooting in Minneapolis

Two women sustained injuries after a shooting that took place early Sunday morning in Minneapolis. 

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to the area near 21st Street and Elliot Avenue South at around 2:05 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting.


Officers arrived to find a woman with a gunshot wound. An officer then applied a tourniquet to control blood loss before she was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance. 

While canvassing the scene, officers were advised that a second adult female arrived at HCMC with gunshot injuries that were not life-threatening. Police believe she sustained her injuries during the same incident.

The incident remains under investigation.

No one is in custody.
