2 teenagers struck, seriously injured by vehicle in St. Francis

Two 14-year-old girls were injured after being struck by a vehicle in St. Francis Tuesday night. 

According to a release sent out by Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart, the incident occurred at 5:53 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 47 and Pederson Drive Northwest. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found two girls injured at the location. 


Early investigations done by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office indicate two 14-year-old girls were crossing the highway in a crosswalk and were struck by a northbound vehicle. The vehicle was driven by a 62-year-old man from Isanti, Minnesota. He stopped his vehicle at the scene. 

One of the injured pedestrians was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center and is in critical condition. The other injured girl was transported to Mercy Hospital and is also in serious condition. 

The crash remains under investigation. There are no additional details at this time.
