According to the criminal complaint, On Aug. 19 at 8:45 p.m. St. Paul officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Bush Street in St. Paul. The female caller indicated that her mother had been shot in the head.

When officers arrived to the scene, they discovered a woman who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Medic arrived on scene and pronounced Bearribs dead.

During the investigation, the police spoke with the victim's husband who said he was on the phone with Bearribs when she started saying, "What are you doing, why are you here?" before the call abruptly ended. The husband then called his daughter, who said her father called her and asked her to go check on her mother because the call went dead. The daughter also said that earlier in the week her boyfriend was shot and killed. She said her boyfriend was allegedly involved in some bad things. She believed that the people involved in her boyfriend's death were actually trying to kill her, and when they could not find her, they shot her mother.
