The Pine County Sheriff's Office reports two males have been arrested on suspicion of passing counterfeit money.

A release said Robert Michael Leach, 26, of Fridley and Drew Christian Nungesser, 27, of Zimmerman were arrested after being stopped on Interstate 35 in the early morning hours last Friday.

The pair's vehicle is alleged to have matched a description provided by a witness at a Pine City business where two men reportedly attempted to pass a counterfeit $50 bill the day before.

According to the release, counterfeit money and narcotics were located when the two were stopped on the freeway.

A search warrant executed at a location in Hinckley that the pair were reportedly linked to also allegedly turned up numerous counterfeit bills, as well as equipment and materials for counterfeiting money.

Agents from the U.S. Secret Service are assisting in the investigation, which the release said may involve businesses in other Minnesota counties.
