Two people were injured in a building explosion in Carlton County Tuesday evening.

The Carlton County Sheriff's Office said first responders were called just before 9 p.m. to the 4000 block of Korhonen Road in Silver Township on the report of an explosion and building fire. 


Responders were told that a 75-year-old woman was injured and that a second victim was trapped inside the basement. The second victim, identified as a 52-year-old woman, was able to get out of the basement before first responders arrived. 

The 52-year-old victim told authorities she turned the furnace on prior to the explosion.
