Two people were found dead and a suspect was identified Wednesday afternoon in Todd County.

The Todd County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that deputies received a call at about 4:32 p.m. on Wednesday reporting a dead man at a rural Long Prairie home. The person who reported the body to authorities went to check on a friend who hadn't returned phone calls or text messages since the day before.


The sheriff's office said deputies arrived on scene and found two dead adults with suspicious circumstances.

Investigators later identified the suspect as 22-year-old Dylan John Bennett. The sheriff's office said Bennett is believed to be driving a blue 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe with Minnesota license plate number BCK487.

Police said Thursday afternoon it is believed that Bennett left the state. 

The sheriff's office said the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is processing the scene, and the names of the deceased individuals will be released after notification of family members. Authorities also said they don't believe there is a threat to public safety at this time.
