A 14-year-old girl is stable after she was shot Sunday afternoon in St. Paul's west side, authorities said.

St. Paul Police Department spokesman Mike Ernster said officers were dispatched around 4:15 p.m. to the area of South Robert and Cesar Chavez streets on a report of a female being shot.

Officers arriving on the scene found a 14-year-old girl who had a gunshot wound to the abdomen. She was taken to Regions Hospital and is stable, Ernster said.

Officers are gathering evidence on scene and piecing together what may have led to the shooting.

No arrests have been reported in the case.
